Track 5: Ultra Sound and Mammography
Bremsstrahlung is the major influence in most x-ray tubes with the exception of X-ray tubes for mammography. The purpose of mammography is to detect small, nonpalpable lesions in the breast. This requires a much higher image quality than normal x-ray imaging with respect to contrast and spatial resolution. Since contrast and resolution are affected by scattering, mammography tubes reduce bremsstrahlung by suitable filtering. Furthermore, mammography tubes use a material (Molybdenum) that produces an almost monochrome x ray with peak energies around 17 to 19 keV. This would be unwanted in regular X-ray imaging as most—if not all—of the radiation would be absorbed and not reach the receptor. For the breast, however, the use of low-energy beams increases the contrast between the subtle differences of different tissues. Using an (almost) monochromatic beam will also reduce scatter, which again increases contrast.

The numbers of neuro-scans grew from 3.1 to 9.1 at CAGR=12.7%, for ICU patients from 3.6 to 5.6 at CAGR=5.1%, for surgical patients from 3.3 to 4.8 at CAGR=4.5%, and for the others neuro-scans patients from 2.3 to 4.4 at CAGR=7.2%.
In the U.S. - The market for North America is worth $2.3 billion in 2010 and is required to increment at a 4.4% CAGR (compound yearly development rate) to reach $2.9 billion in 2015 and also increase in the future
After the U.S. Europe rank as a most developed continent in MRI markets. Increasing applications in the neuroscience the Europe is assessed at $1.2 billion in 2010 and is required to increment at a 10% compound yearly development rate (CAGR) to reach $1.9 billion in 2015.
In the Asia, MRI market is valued at $1 billion in 2010 and then its reach $1.3 billion in 2015, CAGR of 4.3% and it’s expected to increase in 2018.
Interventional radiology in U.S hospitals during 2015, the estimated 3.9 million procedures were processed under the interventional radiology and it is 20% decrease by the 4.4 million procedures performed in 2013. The worldwide market is relied upon to develop at an expected CAGR of 7.1% from 2012 to 2018 in the field of neuroimaging.
Our aim of this conference is to stimulate new ideas for diagnosis and treatment in the era of neuroradiology and it will be beneficial among the spectrum of research and its advancement.
